The Karel de Grote Hogeschool is well known in and around Antwerp. The new Campus Zuid accommodates 5,500 students and 500 staff. The building is on the sites of the former biscuit factory of Biscuiterie Parein opposite the courthouse in Antwerp. The university of applied sciences will accommodate study programmes for healthcare, pedagogics and education. The central university services and the student services will also be housed here.

Perfect control of the HVAC installation

Palmers Building Control Systems was responsible for the installation and programming of the HVAC system and the Priva components. Priva controllers control the entire HVAC chain and log the used amount of electricity and gas. There are also 3200 data points which are sent and/are generated via a communication protocol.

Flexible management system

The 27 Priva Blue ID S10 controllers also control other technology via clear communication. This means that water cooling, heat meters and sun blinds are easily adjustable. In addition, the building management receives useful information about the room temperature, carbon level and air valves. Optimisation of air needs is easily achieved.

Label BREEAM 'Excellent'

Campus Zuid is a sustainable, energy efficient and sustainable building. Technology and installations are based on energy-efficient principles (minimum carbon emissions, maximum energy saving and maximum use of renewable energy sources). The project has the label BREEAM 'Excellent'.Photo: Artitec Fotografie Zele
