This total of 222 projects includes 47 school projects, which have won funding worth £37 million (see table below), making schools a significant beneficiary of the latest round of funding. More than 70 council-backed projects have also won grants.
Cash from the PSDS can be spent on installing heat pumps, solar panels, insulation and low-energy lighting to reduce reliance among public sector organisations on the use of fossil fuels.
Launched in 2020, the £2.5 billion PSDS has funded more than 1,000 projects to date. The projects announced this month were from phase 3c of the scheme.
