Energy flexibility in greenhouse operations

Volatile energy prices, electrification and growing constraints on the electricity grid create both challenges and opportunities for greenhouse growers. Greenhouses have considerable flexibility to optimize energy usage. Within crop requirements, lighting can often be shifted to more cost-efficient moments, while heat buffers and multiple heat sources provide opportunities to optimize when and how energy is produced, stored and consumed.
