Today, June 5th 2019, Priva UK will join businesses and individuals all over the world in celebrating World Environment Day - the United Nations’ biggest annual event for positive environmental action.
The core objective of World Environment Day is to encourage worldwide awareness of the need to protect our planet. Since the first World Environment Day in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for positive public outreach on the environment in over 100 countries.
This year, China will host World Environment Day, with events taking place in the eastern city of Hangzhou; in addition, there will be a large number of events and celebrations around the world.
The theme of World Environment Day 2019 is #BeatAirPollution. Organisers and supporting organisations – including Priva - are calling on governments, industry, communities and individuals to take action to explore renewable energy and green technologies, and improve the air quality – both indoors and outdoors - in cities and regions across the world.
Gavin Holvey, UK & Ireland Sales Manager at Priva UK Ltd, comments:
“As leaders in technology that supports a greener, healthier built environment, Priva is highly supportive of the aims and objectives of World Environment Day. It is vital that low carbon, efficient building technologies are more widely deployed in new and existing buildings as it is clear there is still much more to be done to mitigate against climate change.
“It is also shocking to hear that according to the United Nations more than 6 billion people, one-third of them children, regularly breathe air that is so polluted it puts their health and well-being at risk. That’s more than 90 per cent of the world’s population. We very much hope that the campaign’s focus on air quality will bring wider attention to these statistics and will result in more being done to find solutions to this global problem.”
