Priva supports World Cities Day

Priva UK is proud to support World Cities Day 2018.

31 October 2018
The annual event, created by The United Nations General Assembly, aims to promote the international community’s interest in global urbanisation.

The general, over-arching theme of the World Cities Day is Better City, Better Life. However, each year a different sub-theme is selected, to either promote successes of urbanisation, or address specific challenges resulting from urbanisation.

This year, the United Nations has selected the theme Building Sustainable and Resilient Cities. Over the last decade, natural disasters have affected more than 220 million people and caused economic damage of USD $100billion per year. By 2030, without significant investment to make cities more resilient, natural disasters may cost cities worldwide three times that amount a year and climate change may push up millions of urban residents into poverty.

Gavin Holvey, UK and Ireland Sales Manager at Priva, comments “With two thirds of the population now living in urban environments, its vital that we all work together to ensure they are sustainable and provide a healthy place for people to work and live. As a manufacturer of building management systems, we understand the part we play in creating sustainable and energy efficient buildings and fully support the World Cities Day initiative.”
