This year’s World Environment Day - which takes place today - 5 June 2020 - leads on a theme of biodiversity. The core objective of this year’s campaign is a call to action to combat the accelerating species loss and degradation of the natural world.
As one million plant and animal species risk extinction, largely due to human activities, World Environment Day urges a rethink of the ways in which economic systems have evolved and the impact they have on the environment.
This year, the organisers are encouraging businesses to play a key role to play in curbing biodiversity loss and preserving natural resources. Businesses rely on their host environments and ecosystems for inputs into production and manufacturing processes.
For Priva, a company which is closely aligned with the sustainability objectives of World Environment Day, the initiative offers a much-needed focus on the actions that businesses can deliver to make the world a better place.
Gavin Holvey, UK & Ireland Sales Manager says: “We heartily support the aims and objectives of World Environment Day. If we are to change the current course of destruction to one of custodianship for nature, we must collectively learn more about the things we can do to deliver - and act upon - change. We urge our customers, Partners and suppliers to join us in playing their own part in making the world a better place.”
