After the opening addresses, we were delighted to welcome Jana Elkova and Walid Dagher from Food Tech Valley Dubai who gave a comprehensive overview of the Government-led initiative that is designed to triple the UAE’s food production. Building on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and aligned with the UAE Food Security Strategy 2051, Food Tech Valley Dubai explores urban planning of future smart and food-independent cities.
Focused on innovative tech-based solutions, Food Tech Valley will become the go to place for the food tech industry through its strategic location covering a 18m sq ft area in Dubai, featuring an integrated community comprising a food production zone, business park, innovation and R&D centre and academy, amongst others.
Taking the stage next was Hassan Halawy from Elite Agro in Abu Dhabi, one of the leading producers and distributors of fresh vegetables and fruits in the region and one of Priva’s esteemed customers in the Middle East. Hassan spoke about the connected farm concept and smart farming technologies including drones, Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, machine learning & AI, and 5G.
The final presentation of the evening was by Bhaskar Rao from HyGrow Intelligent Farmers in the UAE who specialise in cutting-edge technology to enable growers to optimise food production and costs through automation. Bhaskar spoke about precision agriculture and the latest technologies available to enhance the quality of produce in various environmental conditions for optimal growth.
A networking reception concluded the evening, giving guests the opportunity to connect and get to know each other better and create new partnerships and collaborations.
