The building has many spaces that are geared towards working independently. The building is flexibly laid out and intended to provide relief from the pressure on, for example, the Library on campus. The grounds and buildings of the University are publicly accessible, but the building will mainly be used by students and staff of the University. Many sustainable solutions were used in the construction, such as thermal storage, variable volume systems (VAV), solar panels and sustainable materials.
Priva partner Coneco was responsible for the project management, engineering, software programming and commissioning of the control building installation and the sustainable thermal storage system.
One of the challenges was the air balance in the building. This has been realised with Priva Comforte CX VAV controllers, connected to six air treatment systems. The Priva Comforte line comprises a series of multifunctional controllers created specifically for work and accommodation spaces in non-residential buildings. In this project, the air balance is determined on the basis of the various building functions and the associated climate treatments.
The project was delivered on time last spring, so that from this academic year, students have been studying in a comfortable and personal indoor climate in the Education and Self-study Centre.
